- Light the end of the incense at a slight angle with a lighter or match, and allow the flame to burn for approximately 10-15 seconds.
- Blow on the flame to extinguish. The incense should produce a glowing red ember and a tendril of smoke, and will continue to burn on its own.

- Burn incense in a well-ventilated room, away from flammable materials, and never leave incense burning unattended or in near children, pets, or a draft.

As I have gotten to my seventh decade, I have realized the importance of "being my own best friend". By that, I mean doing the things for myself that I would immediately do for my best friend if they asked me to help them. Typically, I would put off doing for myself just because it was me and I could wait. Now, taking hot tubs with a stick of incense burning nearby is part of being that best friend. Recently I discovered the Gleauxshop "Reclaiming My Time" incense and have been literally blown away by the strong, but subtle fragrance and moods that it produces. I have used white sage in "smudging" ceremonies for years and recognize the power it carries.
