Our Mission

Gleaux Shop creates high quality home fragrance products with bold designs that make a statement. With meticulously formulated scents and unique designs that promote belonging and celebrate identity, our products aim to act as reminders to your olfactory system to love and celebrate your true self.

We believe in the time each of us are given, you should spend it being a friend to yourself, cultivating joy, and surrounding yourself with things that bring you happiness.

Our Products

All Gleaux Shop products are made from non-toxic, high-quality ingredients:

- Coconut wax with a small amount of food-grade paraffin. 
The paraffin in our wax is the same paraffin that's used to give chocolate its sheen as it hardens. We use coconut wax because it's the cleanest burning candle wax on the market, which means our candles produce minimal soot and smoke.

- Phthalate-free premium fragrance oils.
We don't use ingredients with phthalates as a matter of common sense - most people avoid them in products they put in or on their bodies, so we why would anyone want them in the air? 

- Lead-free cotton wicks.

- Eco-friendly packaging. We are environmentally conscious, using biodegradable packing peanuts, recyclable packing paper, recyclable plastic containers for wax melts, and recyclable/reusable glass candle containers for candles.

- Responsible manufacturing. All candles are poured by hand in small batches to minimize waste and maintain quality.

- Longer-lasting. When cared for properly, our 8 oz candles will burn for at least 55 hours. Our candles are made from coconut wax, which burns up to 15% longer than soy candles, and even longer when compared to candles with a high paraffin content (i.e. candles from most major retailers).

Our Story

Gleaux Shop was founded in 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana in the midst of a global pandemic. At this time, I was working more than ever, feeling isolated and burnt out.  I knew I needed a creative respite, and so my candle making and graphic design journey began. It started with creating self-care centric messages and other designs close to my heart celebrating blackness, queerness, and gender identity. The more I designed, I wanted to add another dimension to my creations, and I started to explore the world of fragrance. After melding the two together, Gleaux Shop was born.

 

 The Maker

I'm Lindsey Douglas, the maker and creative mind behind all Gleaux Shop products. In seeking a creative outlet in the midst of the global pandemic, Gleaux Shop was born. Making empowering candles is important to me because as a queer, black woman, navigating my identity has been and always will be a huge part of my life. When I was young, it was the source of bullying and anxiety, but as an adult, living my truth is one of my greatest points of pride. Candle making and design are a restorative art for me. It's an honor to share my creations with you!
